Less pressure, more connection: Mindful eating as a resource for mental health

Mindful Eating at Praxis beosana in Basel

Mindful Eating is an invitation to reconnect – with your body, with food, and with the emotions that arise around eating. Instead of focusing on rules or restriction, mindful eating is about conscious awareness: sensing hunger, recognizing satiety, tasting your food. The goal is not control, but connection.

Who is this workshop for?

The Mindful Eating Workshop is designed for anyone who wants to develop a more conscious and relaxed relationship with food – regardless of weight, dietary history, or eating patterns. This format is particularly well suited for people who:

  • tend to eat while distracted or in response to emotions

  • want to rediscover calm and enjoyment in eating

  • are looking to move away from dieting and food rules

  • seek new impulses for self-care and body awareness

What does mindful eating have to do with mental health?

Many people eat without noticing. Between emails, meetings, and emotional demands, eating becomes automatic. Mindful Eating offers a pause – a moment of reflection, orientation, and care. It is not a diet, not a control strategy, but a pathway to greater self-awareness.

In today’s fast-paced world, full of overstimulation and conflicting messages about food, mindful eating provides a grounding alternative. It’s about awareness rather than judgment. Small shifts that make a real difference – in the mind, the body, and daily life.

Research shows that regular mindful eating practice can improve self-regulation, reduce emotional reactivity, and increase overall wellbeing. At Praxis beosana, we integrate mindful eating as part of a holistic therapeutic approach to support stabilization and relapse prevention.
